DOZENS of former rugby heroes are set to meet for an historic photo on November 2. And past players from Pembrokeshire are expected to be among them.

They're being invited to Llanelli's Stradey Park by the former players association. It could be the final time there's such a gathering at the world famous stadium as the Scarlets look to move to a new base. It is hoped that the image will appear in a book being compiled to document this season at Stradey. The association's Doug Williams said: "There are plenty of former Llanelli players from Pembrokeshire - the difficulty is contacting them. We'd love to welcome as many as possible to show how the club's camaraderie is a lifelong experience that we all cherish.

"The resulting picture will jog the memory forever and will appear in the book. It'd be great to have dozens and dozens of past players there." The Scarlets have given the association complimentary North Stand tickets to the Leeds Carnegie EDF Cup game to entice as many former heroes as possible. The picture will be taken at 6.10 pm, an hour before the Leeds kick-off, by Llanelli photographer Terry Morris. He's working on the book with writer Andy Pearson, a former editor of local newspaper, the Llanelli Star. The book's publication is due in March. Morris and Pearson previously collaborated on Cool Cymru Collection, photographing and interviewing 12 top Welsh celebrities such as Dame Shirley Bassey and Ryan Giggs for an exhibition, book and TV series.

Ex-players who would like to attend the photo-call must obtain a ticket from Mr. Williams, phone 01554 832600. For details on the book, contact Mr. Pearson, 07758 745240, [email protected]">[email protected].
