After a two year hiatus, the organisers of Saundersfoot’s New Year’s Day Swim have announced that the charity event will return to welcome in 2023.

There is a new start time of 12 noon for the popular event, that attracts thousands of spectators to the seaside village as well as the thousands that enter the sea for charitable causes, with a large percentage in fancy dress!

A record 2,048 swimmers braved the icy waters for the 36th annual Saundersfoot swim back in 2020, with a magnificent £48,896 total generated for charitable organisations and causes.

It’s the second charity swim event for the locality to announce it’s return this week, with the organisers of Tenby’s famous Boxing Day Swim unveiling that the event will finally be going for gold this year.

The legendary event which takes place on North Beach has been absent from the Christmas scene for two years because of the Covid pandemic, with last year’s Welsh Government regulations scuppering it with just seven days’ notice - but this year, the fundraising swim will be back in style as it celebrates its 50th anniversary.
