Sir,

The St. Nicholas Market held in Saundersfoot on December 2, 3 and 4 attracted even more people than previous years and was enjoyed by both the local community as well as visitors to the area.

Stallholders reported improved sales, local businesses were delighted with the increased numbers of Christmas shoppers in the village and Santa met a record number of children!

I am pleased to report that, despite the loss of grant funding, the single admission charge of £2 for the three-day event significantly helped to meet the cost of the marquee, heating, lighting, kitchen demonstration equipment and security for the three days/four nights and as a result the event will be able to continue next year.

Cornelia Parker-Krampf and Amanda Mitchell from Christkindl, High Street, said that they were delighted with the number of extra customers in the village over the weekend and were glad that they had planned to open late until 8 pm to cater for the eager shoppers.

Carol from Broadway, Oxfordshire, sought out organisers before she left to say: "It has been a great market, a perfect start to Christmas, we have had a brilliant day and will be coming back next year."

Saundersfoot Chamber of Tourism would like to thank all those who visited the market, as well as the stallholders, providers of children's rides, Harbour Commission, car park staff, Santa, Saundersfoot Community Council, Sandalwood, Greenhill School Brass Band and many more for all their hard work and support which is greatly valued and appreciated.

Saundersfoot Chamber for Tourism welcomes all those who would like to be involved to continue to make Saundersfoot a wonderful place to visit all year round.

If anyone is interested to join or find out more, please contact myself, Phil Odley, on 07967 002467, any committee member or visit the website http://www.visit-saundersfoot.co.uk">www.visit-saundersfoot.co.uk

Without the enormous efforts of so many working together in Saundersfoot, such events would not be possible. Thank you.

Chair,
