Cricket: The 1st team slumped to their worst defeat of the season against league leaders Llangwm. Llangwm batted first and reached a total of 170 all out in 44 overs. Top scorer was Jonathan Twigg (64) and he was aided by 36 from opener Ian Phillips. Star of the Saundersfoot attack was 13- year-old David Dunfee, who had figures of 5-23 off 6.3 overs. Other wicket-takers were father and son duo of Chris and Yannick Parker with two each and Steve Cole with one. In reply, Saundersfoot collapsed from 46-2 to 74 all out in just 25 overs. Only two batsmen reached double figures and they were Mike Franklyn (20) and Steve Cole (28). This week, the 1st team entertain Haverfordwest II at home. The 2nd team by contrast had a good victory of 107 runs over Llangwm III, who were also top of their division. Batting first, Saundersfoot reach 158-9 in the 40 overs. Top scorer was Chris Hawkes with 47 aided by five others who got into double figures. Llangwm were dismissed for 51, with man of the match Chris Hawkes claiming 5-18. Other wickets fell to Grant Hardy 1-11, Steve Cook 2-17 and Sam Butler 2-0. On Monday night, the U/13s had a convincing win against Pembroke U/13s. Saundersfoot scored 136-4 in their 20 overs, with Sam Franklin (30), David Dunfee (32) and Cameron Wood 20 not out scoring the bulk of the runs. In reply, Pembroke struggled to 33 all out, with Sam Butler 4-4 leading the way for the Saundersfoot bowlers, helped with a wicket apiece from David Dunfee, Jack Franklin, Cory Morris and Cameron Wood. Bingo: A minute's silence was held on Tuesday night in rememberance of Derrick 'Bambi' Edwards who passed away this week. 'Bambi' was a prime mover in the establishment of bingo at the Saundersfoot club and was the caller until the onset of his illness. He will be sadly missed and the greatest sympathy must go to Rhianon and his family.
