The latest club match was held on Sunday, May 21, at Laugharne. Eleven anglers fished, including five juniors, but only five anglers actually weighed in fish.
First place went to junior angler Wez Markham with a superb bass weighing 3.37 kg. Well done Wez!
Second was another junior Ben Edwards with a bass of .94kg and joint third were Gavin Davies and junior Ben Price with flounders weighing .37kg. It looks like the juniors are showing the oldies how to fish at the moment. Well done and keep it up. Points to date: Top four - Mike James 42 pts; Wayne Williams 34 pts; Ben Price 32 pts; Rob Collins 31 pts.
The next club match is on Sunday, June 11, at Saundersfoot. The match is from 1.30-5.30 pm. Sign on Captains Table 12.45-1 pm, with the weigh-in also at the Captains Table - scales close at 6 pm.
DARTS
The A team were away to the Kilgetty Sports Club and lost by the odd game in nine (5-4). The B team fared better against the Cross Inn, winning the Masters, the 1001 and the match 6-3. Next week, the A team are at home to league winners, the Greenbridge Inn, while the B team are away to the White Horse.
CRICKET
Saturday saw the 1st XI snatch defeat from the jaws of victory yet again. Wet weather reduced the match to 40 overs a side. Llangwm, the home side, batted first and looked to be heading for a high score, reaching 81 for 3 in the first 20 overs.
However, good bowling from Dickie Parcell (4-36) and Chris Hawkes (2-11) saw them slump to 101 -9, before a last wicket stand of 24 took their total to 125.
This score looked well within the reach of Saundersfoot, who were 96-5 until a dramatic collapse saw them lose the last five wickets for one run. Top scorers for Saundersfoot were Steve Cole (31) and Dickie Parcell (24).
The 2nd XI had a bye. This weekend sees the 1st XI at home to Llanrhian (Saturday) and Haverfordwest II (Monday) and the 2nd XI away to Hundleton II (Saturday) and Haverfordwest IV (Monday).
The U11s and U13s were due to play this week, but wet weather forced both games to be cancelled. Any youngsters wishing to play junior wicket for Saundersfoot can attend training on Sunday mornings (U11s) or Monday evenings (U13s).
BINGO
Bingo is cancelled on May 30 due to the Saundersfoot Footlights production of 'Copacabana' being held in the hall, but will resume on Tuesday, June 6, at 8 pm, with the weekly flyer standing at £150 and the snowball at £850.
