On Sunday, March 20, Saundersfoot Sea Angling Club held a match on Saundersfoot beach. It's not a great time of for fishing, so it was not surprising that the turnout was mediocre, even for a sponsored match. Twelve competitors fished, of whom five weighed in flounder.

Results were: 1. Jamie Wright with a flounder of 818g (10 pts and £100); 2. Tom Wright (J) with a bag of 631g (8 pts and £50); 3. Marie Knowles with a bag of 560g (6 pts and £25); 4 Tony O'Neill with a bag of 498g (4 pts); 5. Tony (Mr. Consistency 2011) Ormond with a fish of 307g.

A massive thank you to Adam, Donna and Tony, of Sandyhill Café, who were sponsors for this match - last year when they sponsored us we caught nothing, so it was a bit of a relief to bring some fish to the scales!

The Golden Peg was that of Leigh Rogers who didn't trouble the scorers.

Forthcoming matches (back to one rod since February) include the following:

Sunday, April 3 - Beach Rover from Perris Point to Ginst Point, sponsored by Roy Morrell, of Pembrokeshire Scaffolding. Sign on at SSSC 10.30 - 11.45am, fishing 1 - 5 pm. Weigh-in at The Chemist Inn, Saundersfoot, with scales closing 6.15 pm sharp. £100 first prize, £50 for second. This is the first of the 2011 singles KO matches.

Saturday/Sunday, April 16/17 -Tenby South Beach. Sign on at Penally railway station car park 9.30 - 10 pm Saturday evening, fishing 11 pm to 3 am Sunday morning. Weigh-in at Penally straight after the match.

All Rovers must be fished in pairs or more, be especially careful on rock marks.

Club meetings are held at the Sports Club on the first Wednesday of every month at 8 pm. Next meeting is on April 6. All welcome - please ask about the new points system that is being discussed currently; it allows for far more catch and release.

Also a reminder that 2011 fees are now due - held at 2010 costs. Please pay your subscription prior to fishing your first match, and a request from match secretary - please bring correct monies to matches!

Following the AGM held in December, please note that for all SSAC matches, the minimum size at the scales for flounder has been increased to 32cm. Please do not bring under-sized fish to the scales and release alive as many fish as possible.
