SSAC held a Rover on Sunday. Twenty-one anglers competed, including four juniors, with just four weighing in. They don't call February and March the Doldrums for nothing, but the continued support for the club is excellent.

Results were: 1. Andrew Jones with a Thornback Ray of 3.50kg (£55 and 10 pts); 2. Jamie Wright with a bag of flounder of 557g (£30 and 8 pts); 3. Rob Harrison with a bag of 470g (£15 and 6 pts); 4. John Baskerville with a bag of 388g (4 pts).

Tony Ormond did catch an octopus, but that didn't make up for the tackle he managed to lose and break.

The Golden Peg drawn was that of Merv Brace, who did not trouble the scorers.

Thanks to Roger and his staff at the Sports Club for their hospitality, and soup and rolls after the match.
