Saundersfoot Sea Angling Club held their annual Fur and Feather match and raffle on Sunday, December 20.
There was another excellent turnout for both the fishing and the raffle in Saundersfoot Sports Club after the match.
Over 140 prizes had been donated by local business supporters of SSAC - a very big thank you to everyone who was generous enough to help out for a very important day for the club.
Thanks also to Roger and staff of the Sports Club for their hospitality - curry and chips after the match was spot on!
Fishing results were: 1. Marie Knowles (winner of Nicky's Shield); 2. Tony O'Neill; 3. Liam Marklew; 4. Tony Ormond; 5. Jon Brace.
All anglers weighing in received prizes and all juniors who competed received a fishing rod and reel each.
Again, this sort of support is due to the club's supporters and sponsors.
Last Sunday, the club held its competition for the Captain's Table Cup on Saundersfoot beach. A record number competed for the first match of the season. Twenty-four fished, but only flounder came to the scales, with the results being as follows:
1. Tony O'Neill with a flounder of 785g (£100 and 10 points); 2. John Baskerville with a bag of 1.555kg (£50 and eight points); 3. Tony Knowles with a bag of 1.464kg (six points and £20); 4. Andrew Jones (four points).
More thanks to Ian and Jeff for organising the sponsorship money and food - and to Julie for cooking the delicious beef stew.
Forthcoming matches: Sunday, January 31 - six-hour rove, leave the Sports Club at noon, fishing 1 - 7 pm, weigh-in at the Sports Club by 8.15 pm prompt; Sunday, February 14 - Ginst, sponsored by The Mulberry, Saundersfoot, sign on at the venue 2 - 2.15 pm, fishing 3 - 7 pm, weigh in at The Mulberry by 8.15 pm prompt (£100 first prize, £50 second); Sunday, February 28 - rover, sign on at the Sports Club 10.15 - 10.30 am, fishing 11.30 am - 3.30 pm, weigh-in at the Sports Club by 4.30 pm.
Club meetings are held at the Sports Club on the first Wednesday of every month at 8 pm. Next meeting is on February 3.
