Saundersfoot Sea Angling Club held a match on Sunday, October 19, sponsored by Tony Ormond, Steve and Chris, of The White Horse, and Mike Ormond, of Ryelands Caravan Park.
There was an excellent turnout at Lydstep with 21 competitors, the fishing was slack, however.
Results were: 1. Merv Brace with a Bass of 810g (£80 and 10 points); equal 2. James Canton and Tony O'Neil with a bag of LSD for 690g (£30 and eight points each); 4. George Barritt with a three Bearded Rockling of 120g (four points). Golden Peg was Tony Ormond who did not trouble the scorers.
An important point to note for all future matches, day or night - always come off the beach in pairs or more, and always check whether the anglers near you need any assistance. This point is going to be brought up at the next meeting, please try to attend.
Forthcoming matches: Sunday, October 26 - Tenby Open. SSAC will have a match within a match - £1 entry for SSAC, points as normal. Check details in respect of Tenby Open for fishing times and venues, SSAC weigh-in is outside the Ex-Serviceman's Club in Tenby by 3 pm.
NB. only members who have contacted Jon Brace prior to the fishing times will be eligible for SSAC prize money and points.
Sunday, November 16 - Chemist Cup, sponsored by Dai and Mandy, of The Old Chemist Inn. Sign-on at The Chemist by 12.30 pm, fishing 1- 6 pm from Tunnel Point to Perris Point, weigh-in at The Chemist by 7 pm sharp.
Sunday, November 23 - Llansteffan. Sign-on at the Sports Club by 10 am, fishing 11 am to 3 pm, with the weigh-in at the car park.
Saundersfoot Sea Angling Club Night League, sponsored by Carl French Electronics - pegged match at Saundersfoot Harbour, November 2. Sign-on by 5.45 pm, fishing 6-9 pm.
November 30 - Tenby Harbour, times as above. Note that different rules apply to the Night League - length of fish, £1 entry, prizes are £200 for first, £100 for second and £50 for third, plus all entry fees for biggest fish. All prizes are for the respective places at the end of the league. For full details contact Tony Ormond.
