Saundersfoot Sea Angling Club held a rover last Sunday sponsored by Ray Morell, of Pembrokeshire Scaffolding, with anglers choosing varied marks from Ginst to Broad Haven South and even Milford Haven. Thanks must go to Roy, who went out of his way to ensure that the prize money was available for the match, even though he could not be there himself. Nineteen members entered and 12 weighed in a mixture of flounder, LSD and dab. Winner was Wes Markham with an LSD of 630g (£100, Pembrokeshire Scaffolding Tankard and 10 points); 2. place Chris Watkins with a bag of 1.57kg (£50 and eigh points); 3. George Barritt with a bag of 1.16kg (£20 and six points); 4. junior, Dan Thomas with a bag of 960g (£10 and four points). The Golden Peg number pulled out was that of Lee Hart. The next matches are: Sunday May 4 - Waterwynch Shield, sponsored by Dai and Andrea Ormond. The match is a four-hour rover to be held between Giltar Point and Telpyn Point only. Leave the Sports Club at 11.15 am, fishing noon to 4 pm, weigh in at The Old Chemist Inn, with the scales closing at 5 pm sharp. £100 first prize, £50 second. Sunday, May 18 - six-hour rover. Leave the Sports Club at 11.15 am, fishing noon - 6 pm, weigh in at The Mulberry, with the scales closing at 7 pm sharp.
