Saundersfoot Sea Angling Club hosted a beach match at Pendine on Sunday, March 23, for the Carl French Electronics Cup. Twenty members entered and 15 weighed in, with over 50 flounder going to the scales. Those fishing the bar failed to weigh in, though one or two bass were lost in the surf. Winner was a junior, Dan Thomas, with a flounder of 690g (£100 and 10 points); 2. Tony O'Neil with a bag of 3.40kg (19-inch TV which he has yet to receive, and eight points); joint 3. Merv Brace and Rob Beynon with bags of 3.18kg (£25 and six points each). The Golden Peg number pulled out was that of Wes Markham, who didn't fish. The next matches are: Sunday April 6 - five-hour beach rover. Leave the Sports Club at 11.30 am, fishing 12.30 - 5.30 pm, weigh in at the Old Chemist, with scales closing at 6.30pm sharp. Sunday, April 27 - Pembrokeshire Scaffolding rover. Leave the Sports Club at 7.45 am, fishing 8.30 am to 12.30 pm, weigh in at the Captain's Table, with the scales closing at 1.30 pm sharp. £100 first prize, £50 second. The committee are trying to organise a boat match for the summer which will be open to members only, and will have to be done on a first come, first served basis. The club will contribute to the costs - watch this space for further details. It may take place over several weekends to cater for as many as possible.
