Sunday's match was combined with the Osprey SAC Open at Amroth, supporting the Air Ambulance service.

Conditions were brisk - strong southerly winds to start, turning south-easterly as the match progressed. Nonetheless, fish were caught throughout the match - from the 100 or so anglers competing, 78 fish were weighed in. SSAC anglers did not manage to take any Open prizes, but Terry Hunt won the club match with a flounder of 560g (10 points and £25), while Lee Hart took second spot with a flounder of 410g (eight points and £15). Well done Terry, it is good to see the old guard supporting the club again; the juniors will be grateful for your tips over the remaining matches of 2006.

While on the subject of the juniors, they are fishing at Llansteffan this weekend in the trials for a place in the Welsh Junior squad. Please support them as fully as possible.

The next SSAC matches are: October 22 within the Tenby Open, format as last week; Sunday, November 5, a six-hour Rover, sign on at the Sports Club 9.45 - 10 am, fishing times 11 am to 5 pm, scales close 6.30 pm prompt at The Chemist Inn; November 19 on Saundersfoot beach, sign on 10 - 10.15 am at The Chemist Inn, fishing 11 am to 3 pm, scales close 4 pm prompt at The Chemist Inn - this match is sponsored by Mr. Tony Ormond, of Tony Ormond Plumbing and Heating. Did I hear that it was £1,000 first prize? I must check.

The Powells Cottage Holidays sponsored SSAC Junior Knockout is at the semi-final stage. With one match to decide the finalists, Kiefer Thompson leads James Canton by four points, and Ben Price leads Ben Edwards by three points. The finalists battle for the £100 first prize over the November and December matches. Best of luck, guys.

Do not forget that there is a meeting at the Sports Club on the first Wednesday of every month, when the match venues are arranged for the following month. The next meeting is November 1 at 8 pm.
