Last Sunday was the Caldey Cup sponsored by The Argosy Restaurant. Probably our best turnout for the island match which never fishes well, it shows that support from our sponsors brings support from the members. Thanks go to everyone.
Sixteeen anglers competed, with six bringing fish to the scales. I never thought I would say this, but the winner was - Lee Hart, winning £100 for a kilo of LSD. Full results: 1. Lee Hart with an LSD of 1.05kg (10 points, trophy and £100); 2. Ben Edwards with a bag of 1.62kg (eight points and £50); 3. Jon Brace with a bag of 1.50kg (six points and £20); 4. Tony O'Neil with a bag of 690g (four points). Golden Peg drawn was that of Tony O'Neil, who finished fourth.
Next matches are: Sunday, July 20 - Six-Hour Rover. Leave the Sports Club at 1 pm, fishing 2 - 8 pm, with the scales closing at The Captain's Table at 9 pm prompt. Specimen match - excluding mini species! This is the last match of the second round of the Singles KO.
August - Boat Match over several weekends running out of Milford Haven. Please provide your names and when you are are available to Carl Gunning. Bring your own kit and bait; we shall be leaving Neyland Marina at 9 am each trip. I only have 19 names, and provisional lists will be provided at the next match for confirmation of dates. We have room for five more anglers.
Current leaderboard: 1. Jon Brace 45 pts;, 2. Rob Beynon 44; 3. Rob Collins 42; 4. Anthony Knowles 40; 5. Ben Edwards 36.
Finally, we must congratulate Rob Collins and Ben Price for representing Wales at Junior level in Folkestone recently, Team Wales finishing in second spot by only a short fish.
The next meeting will be on Wednesday, September 1, at the Sports Club at 8 pm. Did I mention who won the last match - Lee Hart!
