We have had an excellent response this year! This week's session was held on the water and enjoyed by all. This week we are separating into two groups as the numbers are high. Please contact Tina on (01834) 812383 if you require more information.
Sunday, June 15 This week's OOD, 4 pm race, Alan Lambert and Rhiannon Davies. CLUB RACES It was a most beautiful and serene morning before the start of the Royal Marine Cup Races last Sunday. But this apparent tranquility was in total contrast to the knife-edge keenness of the competition in the racing. Indeed there seemed insufficient wind even to start, but optimism prevailed with nine boats slowly crossing the line for a simple Monkstone–Harbour course. The run to Monkstone took a full 30 minutes, with Sarah Boorman's Laser Radial taking a direct route and finding more wind than everyone else until close to the mark when the rest of the fleet closed up and surged ahead of her, all in close formation. The breeze improved usefully on the beat back to the harbour and the race was completed with only 70 seconds separating the first four boats. Paul Griffiths in his new Solo led the field, but after handicap adjustments it emerged that he had been pipped by just one second by Keith Jones in his new Streaker! The second race was started with a better breeze using a Pendine-Monkstone-Harbour course. On the line, it was absolutely neck-and-neck between two Solos with Alan Lambert just ahead of Paul Griffiths by a nose. Paul thus suffered the ultimate frustration of losing two races by only a mere second each! The Royal Marines Cup is a three race series so it is 'all to play for'. Don't miss next week's gripping finale at SSC - where every second counts ! The full results were: Race 1: 1. Keith Jones (Streaker); 2. Paul Griffiths (Solo); 3. Ben Dancer (Topper). Race 2: 1. Alan Lambert (Solo); 2. Paul Griffiths (Solo); 3. Paul Johnson (Solo).
