COPPET WEEK REGATTA 2006

LADIES
First lady competitor: Nancy Gudgeon (Midland SC) First lady helm: Graduate - Tonia Griffiths (Saundersfoot SC). It was encouraging to note the proportion of local sailors among the silverware. It wasn't always like this. I wonder how different the prize lists will look at Coppet Week 2007 if the hard men get some decent wind?
SUPERNOVA NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP
There is no rest for the wicked or the race officials at Saundersfoot Sailing Club. Hard on the heels of Coppet Week, from June 10 to 13, SSC hosted the National Championship of the Supernova Class, a modern dinghy class we know very little about down here. Over 30 entrants are taking part from all parts of the UK and from what we can see from the shore again scratching for wind on occasions. On the other hand, one of the Supernova competitors. an inland sailor by all accounts was heard to remark "I do not like this sea sailing. The water goes up and down! so they must be getting wind of some sort." A full report of this event will be available next week.
