As the summer season of community events begins in earnest, Saundersfoot Rotary has hit the ground running—not just with activities around the picturesque harbour, but with meaningful contributions to global development.
Recently, the Club proudly delivered a collection of tools and a significant number of sewing machines kindly donated by members of the local community to Tools for Self-Reliance Llanelli and Carmarthen.
This inspiring organisation will refurbish all the items before shipping them to communities in Tanzania, where they can make a real difference.

The sewing machines, in particular, offer more than just utility; they represent a path to independence and entrepreneurship for young women and girls. With the ability to earn a living through tailoring and garment-making, many will be empowered to build better futures for themselves and their families.
Saundersfoot Rotary’s first Sandcastle Competition brought joy and creativity to the beach, offering free family fun for all. Every child left with a prize, and thanks to the kindness of those who attended, over £30 was raised for Saundersfoot Playgroup and Day care.

“Well done to all those who came along this morning for our first Saundersfoot Rotary Sandcastle Competition of 2025!“ said a spokesperson.
Saundersfoot Rotary’s ever-popular Duck Race made a big splash once again, drawing crowds of locals and visitors to the harbour for a day of fun—all in support of the RNLI.
Every duck sold out ahead of the big race, and thanks to the enthusiasm and generosity of locals and visitors alike, over £1,000 was raised to support the lifesaving work of the RNLI.

First prize went to seven-year-old Jesse James—who touched hearts by donating £10 of his winnings back to Rotary’s causes.
Rotarians offered a big thank you to everyone who took part and helped make the event such a success - with another one lined-up for Sunday, June 15.
Members and friends of Saundersfoot Rotary also took part in The Big Walk Returns - this month, when they completed a sponsored walk from Haverfordwest to Neyland Marina. The weather was kind and the sun shone for the most part despite a threatening start.

Just over ten miles was covered by all of the twelve participants and the funds raised will go to support local charities, the Paul Sartori Hospice at Home Foundation and the Yaki Da Boi Project based in Narberth which works with young people in Pembrokeshire providing education workshops and outdoor challenges.
Keep an eye out for more events throughout the summer season and join them in supporting initiatives that truly make an impact, including Pig Roasts as well as more Sandcastle Competitions!
