Customers in Saundersfoot can be assured of a continuing supply of first class drinking water following the completion of the first phase of a £1.4 million investment scheme to upgrade their water mains network. The investment scheme, which started in September last year, involved renewing and relining approximately 13km of water mains in the area, to further improve drinking water quality and the reliability of supply. Dwr Cymru Welsh Water liaised with Pembrokeshire County Council in preparation for the scheme. Dwr Cymru Welsh Water asset manager, Peter Childs, said: "This was an essential investment scheme to upgrade part of the water network system in the area and help us to deliver top quality drinking water to our customers. "On behalf of the project team, I would like to thank the local community for their patience and for bearing with us whilst this important work was carried out." The second phase of work is already underway and is due to be completed by November this year. The work is currently being carried out on St. Brides Hill and will be working its way out of Saundersfoot centre. The scheme was delivered by Laing Utilities, working with United Utilities, ChandlerKBS and other partners carrying out the water mains refurbishments programme, on behalf of Dwr Cymru Welsh Water.
