Last Sunday, Mr. Standing led the worship. The speaker, Pastor Darren Rogers, read from Exodus chapter 3. The pianist was Miss Helen Standing and the welcome steward was Mrs. Janet Roberts. Mrs. Standing reminded the fellowship and explained to visitors that the Bible from beginning to end is all about choices. God blessed His nation many times but, whenever they became self- confident, they forgot God's blessings and even worshipped false gods made from wood stone and metal. In these times, neighbouring kingdoms plundered the nation and the Jews were taken to foreign lands, but there were always one or two people who continued to trust in the Lord God and He used them to save the nation. Esther was orphaned and was being cared for by her relative Mordecai. Esther became the wife of King Xerxes and when Mordecai heard of a plot to kill the king he informed Esther who warned the king. Mordecai and Esther made the right choices and were willing to serve the king, trusting that God would work out His plan there. Every day we make many choices, let's make sure we do not wander away from God. He may choose you today to serve Him. Pastor Rogers's theme was John 10 v 9, Jesus said, 'I am the door; if any one enters by me, he will be saved'. During our lifetime, we go through a phenomenal number doors of all types. Just as the doors in our homes protect us from things outside, trusting God protects believers from danger. Not only is He our protector, He is also the only way to eternal life. It is not our good works that get us to Heaven, but trusting that God has sent His Son to take our punishment. If we were heading for a plane crash, the parachutes would be no good if we did not use them, however much we believed they would work. We would need to put them on. God is there for everyone who asks Him to save them. The Bible says Jesus is 'The way, the truth and the life'. No-one comes to the Father except through Jesus. He can change your life here and now. If we put our trust in Him, we can know He has a plan for each one of us, no matter who we are. Once we've made this step, He will open up doors of opportunity for us to share with others and give them new hope and help in their daily lives. We don't necessarily have to give up the things we do, but whatever we do we should aim to be pleasing in God's sight. He won't always take away our problems, but he will give us the strength to get through them and we can use our experiences to help others. Even if we are not very active, we can pray, make phone calls or write notes that bring encouragement to other people. Jesus loved us enough to die for each one, no matter what our faults. Revelation speaks of Jesus knocking at the door. We should let Him into all areas of our lives. We should spend time with Jesus to become like Him. This Sunday at 11 am the speaker will be Mrs Mary Campbell, with activities for young people in the Hall during the message. Crusaders Tuesday Club meets from 6 - 7.30 pm. Bible Study is on Thursday at 7.30 pm. We give you a warm welcome to our services and activities. Probus CLUB

Saundersfoot Probus Club held their fortnightly meeting on October 10. John Whiting gave a very interesting talk covering his experiences with Texaco, which of course is now Chevron. The many changes that took place at that time were covered by John in a very humorous and interesting way much appreciated by the members. If any member of the public has an interesting subject and is prepared to spend half-an-hour or so at the club giving a talk, it would be greatly appreciated. To arrange this, please ring one of the numbers below. The club then discussed suitable venues for club visits, a number of which have been put forward for further action. The Saundersfoot Probus Club continues to provide a forum for retired or semi-retired Saundersfoot and district people to discus topics of mutual interest. External speakers are invited to give talks on a diverse range of subjects aimed at the interests of the members. Meetings are held every second and fourth Wednesday in the month in a convivial atmosphere at the Sports Club, Regency Hall, Saundersfoot. The club's activities include outings to places of interest, lunches etc., when wives and friends are invited to participate. The club's fees are only £10 a year and a warm reception awaits any new members who would like to join an organisation geared to put that little extra excitement in their social life. Just ring James Morris (Penally) on 01834 842234 or John Parker (Reynalton) on 01834 891471.

St. Nicholas CHRISTMAS Market

Saundersfoot's St. Nicholas Christmas Market is being held this year on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, November 30 and December 1 and 2. Organised by the Saundersfoot Chamber for Tourism, with grant help from Pembrokeshire County Council and the Welsh Assembly Government, this will be the eighth Christmas Market to be held on Saundersfoot Harbour (by kind permission of the Harbour Commissioners), and already it looks as if it will be as successful as the past years. The skating rink will again take pride of place in the middle of the market and, of course, Father Christmas has promised to come and meet all the children in his grotto over the weekend. With a maximum of 65 stalls selling a variety of goods from Christmas gifts, seasonal foods and wine, there will be much to choose from. Entertainment will be provided throughout the three days, with carols sung by several children's choirs and seasonal music from various bands and groups. There are now only a few stalls left, so anyone wishing to book for the three days, contact Mrs. Madge Wills on 01834 812610 as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.

METHODIST CHURCH

The two lessons used by the preacher, Mr. Richard Laws, on Sunday, were Paul's second letter to Timothy, chapter 2, verses 1-15, and Luke 17, verses 11-19. From these readings he brought out the following points. We are to prepare ourselves like an athlete to be ready for whatever God calls us to do. Like a soldier obeys his commanding officer, so we must be obedient in doing what God asks of us. Then we aim to win approval in God's sight as workers who are not ashamed of our work. Also we should be thankful for what we are given and praise God for it. This Sunday morning at 11 am the service will be led by Rev. Anthony Gregory and will include Holy Communion. All are welcome.

st. issell's with amroth mothers' Union

Mrs. Georgina Butler opened the meeting on October 9. Prayers were conducted by Mrs. Rosemary Hayes for the Harvest, Young People and Plant Dewi. Mrs. Butler then introduced and welcomed the speaker for the afternoon, Mr. Peter Arnold, who is a project worker with Plant Dewi. Mr. Arnold showed a video illustrating how Plant Dewi works in partnership with the Mothers' Union in supporting children, young people and their families in the diocese - 'Cradle to the Grave'. When the video was first shown at the opening of the new Family Centre at the Tanyard Youth Club, the Bishop, the Right Rev. Carl Cooper, said it illustrated such work as 'Ministry in Action', and it showed 'We practice what we preach'. Mr. Arnold explained how the Plant Dewi Pembrokeshire Team of 38 members formed a comprehensive network of support to be there constantly for family life in the community, promoting after-school activity, teenage clubs and adult courses. Mr. Arnold answered many questions and explained how when the Children's Society in Wales ended, Plant Dewi replaced it. He thanked members for their support; for half the proceeds raised from the Saundersfoot in Bloom Flower Festival, amounting to £310, had been presented by Mrs. Rosemary Hayes during the meeting. On behalf of the members, Mrs. Jocelyn Bate thanked Mr. Arnold for a most interesting afternoon, and felt sure that Plant Dewi was going from strength to strength. The meeting closed with a reminder from Mrs. Butler that the Pre-Christmas Bazaar would be held on Saturday, November 3, in the Regency Hall, at 2.15 pm. The shoe boxes of Christmas gifts for 'Operation Christmas Child' should be brought to the church for collection around November 4. The next meeting will be on November 13, for lunch at the Crofty Nursery Garden Centre, Llanteg.
