At the Pembrokeshire Primary Schools music festival on Saturday pupils took part in a whole day of activities. The school orchestra, a group of 30 musicians, played a medley of Beatles music in the morning concert. Pupils from the age of six up to 11 demonstrated their musical ability by giving a memorable performance of this popular music.

Pupils in the individual competitions in the afternoon also demonstrated some notable achievements.

Grade 2 clarinet - 1. Chloe Bull, 2. Poppy Clarke.

Grade 2 violin - 1. Yannic Parker.

Grade 2 cello - 1. Jessica Edwards

Grade 2 Piano - 2. Liam Watkins

In the evening, area music groups performed. The groups were interspersed by the winners of the Open competitions (Grade 5 and above).

Daniel Brewer gave a wonderful performance of Gershwin's 'I got rhythm'. He played with considerable control, exploring a wide range of dynamics and playing accurately some of the very difficult rhythms in this music.

Daniel was awarded Young Musician of Pembrokeshire

Thanks are extended to all staff at the school and to the peripatetic tutors for all their hard work and support.
