Saundersfoot Community Council has provided an update on changes at the seaside village’s Medical Centre.

The surgery is changing its clinical system to a more intuitive system; and working extremely hard behind the scenes for a smooth migration.

A spokesperson for the Medical Centre said: “All staff have had training and will be given more training on the new system, but things may take a little longer whilst we familiarise ourselves with the navigation.

“This means it may take a little longer for our team to answer any queries patients have. Please bear with us while these changes take place.

“We are still experiencing problems with the phone lines in the prescriptions department, which we are addressing. Unfortunately, we have one of our team members off sick presently which exacerbates the problem.

“Please be patient during this time. We will be having a patient call board fitted in reception late September, this be both visual and audio. In October we will be having a our phone lines updated.”

With regards to repeat prescriptions, patients must ensure that they have ordered their repeat prescriptions prior to September 12, as the Centre is not able to print any prescriptions.

There will be limited, on the day only appointments from September 22 for 10 days as the Centre rebuilds its digital diary.

Blood tests will be performed during the during the dates of September 16 and 24 but the surgery will not receive the results.

Any abnormal results we will be informed of via telephone/email and the patient will then be contacted. On the day bookings will be from Thursday, September 18 for approximately 12 days (limited appointments).

The Centre’s link with secondary care (Hospital) for blood results will be shut down from September 16 which means that the Centre will not receive any results until September 24.

“The hospital will contact us if they found any abnormal results and the patient will be contacted in due course. Please ask patients not to contact us for blood test results between 16th and 24th September,” continued the spokesperson.

“Any repeat medication due between these dates must be ordered before Friday, September 12.”

On online services, for the NHS APP and eConsult, there will be temporary loss of service between September 16 and 24.

The Medical Centre are not able to register any new patients after September 12 (this includes new born babies), and will recommence new patient registration on September 24.

In further news for the Centre, Dr Kate Davies has been back now for a few weeks following maternity leave. She works Thursdays and Fridays.

The Centre now has Dr Dew as well, who is permanently there on a Wednesday (unless on annual leave of course).

Dr Krzysztof Malinowski has joined the practice on a permanent basis; and will be back on Monday, September 15. He will be working a Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

A new GP, Dr Clio Francis has just stated too, and will be working Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
