Saundersfoot has made the prestigious Sunday Times ‘Best Places to Live’ in the UK list published last week.

The Pembrokeshire spot made the top 10 list featuring the top Welsh locations to reside, calling it a ‘thriving seaside village that excels at making its own entertainment.’

The supplement assesses a wide range of factors, from jobs, schools and broadband speed to culture, community spirit and local shops, in order to compile the definitive top locations to live.

The methodology uses robust statistics, but also the knowledge of The Sunday Times’s expert panel.

The judges combine the hard data with their own on-the-ground experience and insight to ensure the chosen locations truly are places where everyone can thrive.

‘Too many coastal communities are blasé about their beach - not so Saundersfoot, where locals gather en masse at the slightest excuse, and pick up any plastic litter while they’re there,’ wrote the publication.

‘Two thousand turned up to see in 2018 with a dip, and smart habourside decking has been added, so residents gather for pig roasts, fireworks and all manner of parties.

‘The Footlights is a thriving am-dram group, the local Rotary Club is virtually hyperactive and there are keen sailing and walking groups, as well as societies for everything from geology to history.’

In addition, the guide named Mumbles in Swansea as the overall best place to live in Wales, with the ‘picturesque’ estuary town of Laugharne and ‘cathedral city’ of St. Davids also making the top 10.
