he presentation to the prize winners in the Saundersfoot in Bloom competition took place at St. Brides Hotel by kind permission of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Evans.

Chairman Keith Williams welcomed everyone, including the chairman of Saundersfoot Community Council, Clr. Bill Cleevely, who presented the prizes.

Keith thanked Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Evans for their hospitality, Clr. Cleevely and the judges, Mrs. Joyce Lewis, Mr. Duncan Hilling, and Mr. Alwyn James. The fourth judge was Keith himself.

They had a difficult task when deciding on the marks to be awarded.

Keith also thanked the participants, without whom there would be no competition. He also reminded everyone that the flower festival would be at St. Issell's Church from August 20 to 24.

The winners were as follows:

Best garden visible from the road: 1. Mr. John Archer, 11 Bevelin Hall, who received the Patel Cup; 2. Mrs. Michelle Evans, 22 Castle View, who received the Hayes Shield.

Best fourcourt without garden - Bill O'Connor Cup: 1. Mrs. Tessa Pearson, Valley Farm.

Best display window boxes, tubs and hanging baskets - Saundersfoot in Bloom Shield: 1. Mr. Ralph Rich, Sun Valley; 2. Mrs. Lillian Lang, Edgecombe.

Best senior citizens garden - RAOB Shield: Mr. and Mrs. Terry Hunt, 16 Pennant Avenue; 2. Mr. Allan Brace, Caroldene.

Best garden not visible from the road - Penry Thomas Cup: 1. Ann Lewis and Brian Deeley, 18 North Close; 2. Cliff Preece, White Gates.

Best vegetable garden - Moreton House Plate: 1. Neil and Mary Sefton, 23 Whitlow.

Best hotel garden - Mrs. Anne Thomas Trophy: 1. Vine Cottage Guest House.

Best business premises, window boxes and hanging baskets - Shrublands Shield: 1. Sunnyvale Holiday Park; 2. Roger and Angela Woods, Moreton House.

Best hotel premises visible from the road - Ronowitz Shield: 1. Wogan Guest House.

Best institution, public gardens etc. - Patel Shield: 1 Saundersfoot Bowling Club.

The Saundersfoot Bay Leisure Park Trophy, which is awarded to the best overall commercial premises: Sunnyvale Caravan Park.
