A Saundersfoot fundraiser is gearing up to take part in her first ever half marathon this weekend for a cause close to her heart.

Kelly Wharton-Edwards will be taking on the Cardiff Half Marathon challenge on Sunday, to raise funds towards treatments, rehabilitation, and future care for her cousin Rory Rogers who was left seriously injured in an incident in the village in 2013.

“Over seven months ago I never dreamt I would be up and jogging with my dad at 7 in the morning, sometimes it’s been 6am!” said Kelly.

“I am doing this for one reason and one reason only and that is to raise money for my cousin Rory and for his future treatments, so please if anyone has a spare £1 that they would be able to donate it will all be for the best cause ever.

“Miracles happen but sometimes we need to find them so please help me to help this amazing young man,” continued Kelly, who gives thanks to all the those that have donated so far and helped her reach her initial fundraising target of £500.

“I started training for the marathon at the start of the year, weighing 17 stone, so it has also proved to be a massive lifestyle change for me, but all worth it for the best cause ever,” she added.

Anyone who would like to donate can do so at one of the large green charity collection buckets for Rory, located at the 1 Formula Fitness gym in Kilgetty, the Old Chemist Inn, Katie Marsh and Bella Bella beauty salon in Saundersfoot, and also the village’s Tesco Express on Thursdays and Sundays.
