A meeting is planned for later in September with the Chairman of ‘Love Saundersfoot’ and CEO of ‘Visit Pembrokeshire’ to explore how the organisations can work together to enhance community spirit, improve event promotion, and maximise the opportunities these new resources provide for the seaside village.
‘Love Saundersfoot’ is a new group that was officially set up earlier this year to oversee organising events for the seaside village.
The group is an evolution from the former Saundersfoot Chamber of Tourism and has a fresh new direction - with its focus on residents, visitors and event organisers alike.
‘Love Saundersfoot’ says that its purpose is to liaise with other events groups to create and maintain a single, up to date calendar for all events in the village and to deliver fun and exciting events themselves, that typically fell to the old Chamber.
‘Visit Pembrokeshire’ meanwhile, is a trade led stand-alone Destination Marketing Organisation for the county, set up in late 2020
County councillor for Saundersfoot’s south ward, Cllr Chris Williams said that he recently had a catch up with the Chief Executive Officer of ‘Visit Pembrokeshire’, Emma Thornton.
“We are fully aligned on the view that Saundersfoot and ‘Love Saundersfoot’ would benefit greatly from closer collaboration with ‘Visit Pembrokeshire’. I have long advocated for a comprehensive events calendar, as it is a vital tool for local communities to showcase what is on offer and to encourage both residents and visitors to engage with activities throughout the year,” remarked Cllr Williams.
“Saundersfoot has developed into a year-round destination, supported by a strong programme of community events that bring people together.
“Combined with our independent shops and hospitality venues, the village is well placed to make the most of the exciting developments already taking place.”
Cllr Williams explainded that ‘Love Saundersfoot’ is in the process of establishing a community events calendar, while ‘Visit Pembrokeshire’ is preparing to launch its new ‘What’s On’ section on its website on September 1.

Organisations will be provided with access to the portal from this month, enabling them to start uploading events. This will allow three weeks to gather as much content as possible to ensure there is a strong and engaging selection when the new platform goes live.
‘Love Saundersfoot’ will be liaising with its community over the coming weeks and months, as they get involved with events outside the summer calendar, for later this year, including The Big Bang which will once again return to the harbour over October 24th, 25th, and 26th.
“Whilst the event is still being organised by Phil Odley this year, the fireworks are funded and supported by ‘Love Saundersfoot’. This is always a highlight of the year and last year’s celebrations drew large crowds to the village, creating a fantastic family atmosphere,” continued Cllr Williams.
“As many are already aware - ‘Love Saundersfoot’ is our new events group run by elected volunteers dedicated to developing, supporting and publicising events.
“I wish the team every success as they start their 2025 event schedule by supporting the Big Bang celebration.”
