More charity events are taking place in Saundersfoot this month, organised by the Rotary Club.
It proved to be a dull Sunday morning, but undeterred the members of Saundersfoot Rotary Club set up for their duck race in the seaside village’s Harbour recently.
The weather forecast was not optimistic and it could easily have been a washout but, thanks to the residents and visitors supporting the club’s fundraising efforts, the ducks sold well and just before the start time of the race, it was a sellout.
A huge crowd around the harbour for the event on July 23, joined in the countdown to the dropping of the ducks into the flood of water as the sluice gate was opened.
With help and guidance from Club members, the ducks made their way towards the finishing line. The prizes of £50, £25 and £10 were claimed by those who had selected the first three ducks.
Saundersfoot Rotary gives thanks to everyone who bought a duck and to Saundersfoot Harbour for their support. All proceeds go to local and international good causes and charities.
The Rotary Club are very busy during the Summer months and, weather permitting, upcoming events in August include - a Sandcastle Competition on Wednesday August 2; and Pig Roasts on Friday, August 4, 11 and 25.
Further duck races will take place on Sunday, August 6 and 20.
