A former chairman of Saundersfoot Community Council has stood down from his role as councillor.

It was announced at the most recent meeting of the community council held at the village’s Regency Hall that Anthony Mattick, a former Detective Sergeant with Dyfed Powys Police, had tendered his resignation as Community Councillor.

Clr. Mattick stated within his letter which was read out by the clerk to members that he had thoroughly enjoyed his five years as a Community Councillor and that he felt very proud to have played a small part in many of the great projects and decisions that have been made to further develop the ‘beautiful village’ of Saundersfoot.

He also wrote that he would like to thank all Councillors for their ‘fellowship, commitment and dedication’ and wished the Community Council continued prosperity in the future.

The Council requested the Clerk to send a letter thanking Clr. Mattick for his continued commitment and service to Saundersfoot Community Council over the past five years and to wish him all the best for the future.

A keen cycling enthusiast, Mr. Mattick was seriously injured in 2012 when he was in a collision with a heavy goods vehicle on the A40 while cycling home from work in Carmarthen.

The accident resulted in Anthony sustaining multiple fractures and internal bleeding which resulted in him being airlifted to Cardiff for lifesaving treatment.

Since then he has embarked on many charity-fundraisers, alongside his schoolfriend, comedian Rhod Gilbert, who is a patron for The Velindre Cancer Hospital based in Cardiff.
