Today (Saturday, March 26), at 10 am, the Regency Hall will play host to Saundersfoot Community Treasure Chest decision day.
This is a one-off opportunity where you decide how a pot of money is spent in Saundersfoot. What are the best projects? Where is the greatest need. If you live in Saundersfoot, the team want to hear from you.
The beauty of Participatory budgeting is that the decisions regarding funding are made by the village community. The power is in your hands.
Prior to decision day, a showreel of the applicants who have bid for a maximum of £1,000 have been shown across social media and also at the Regency Hall.
Tomorrow all of the projects will be at the hall to present their ideas and have a chat with residents before they sit down with a cuppa and some cake to make their personal decisions on how they rate the projects. All votes will be checked and verified before the final announcement at 4 pm.

All 12 successful applications meet the following criteria agreed from consultation events last year :
Bring people together / social interactions - Projects that support and strengthen the community allowing people to socialise and interact together.
• Young people and children – Youth Clubs, Dance clubs, football clubs nursery groups, After-school clubs etc.
• Multigenerational activities – Activities that result in bringing different groups of people together eg IT sessions where young people help older people access online activities or contact friends and family or projects where older people share skills and learning with younger Saundersfoot residents.
• Vulnerability e.g. a group combatting loneliness, senior citizens or dinner clubs. Activities/groups that cater to members of our community with additional needs, crafting, knit and natter groups etc.
• Community social events as part of Covid recovery – events and activities targeted at bringing the community together in covid recovery eg community theatre, social activities, beach cleans, gardening etc
More than anything, this is a great opportunity to bring the community together for a cuppa and a chat as we start to adapt to our new “normal”
Everyone knows Saundersfoot is great, but here’s an opportunity to prove it!
The only voting criteria is that you live in Saundersfoot. The PAVS team as well as the Saundersfoot Community Treasure Chest Steering group members will be there to help and support and are looking forward to seeing the community together again.
