Saundersfoot’s Cawl Cooking Championship of the World…and Elsewhere has been a highlight in the community for a number of years. Now the hotly-contested event is to have its own special day on the Saundersfoot calendar, taking place on Saturday, March 12. The Saundersfoot Cawl Factor 2016 will see seven venues in the village serving up bowls of the traditional Welsh delicacy, which will be judged on the vote of visitors. All you have to do is buy a commemorative keepsake cawl bowl from the Regency Hall and then head out into the village for a tasty time. Between 10 am and 4 pm, the Regency Hall will be open with FREE admission to a host of attractions, including artisan craft makers and producers demonstrating their skills throughout the day. Woodturning, weaving and basket-making, needle felt work, porcelain flower-making, jewellery-making and art are just a few of the crafts that can be seen in creation, with hot Welsh cakes fresh off the griddle to enjoy. There will also be children’s entertainment, a busker’s corner and the Village Dragon Trail, with entry forms available at the Regency Hall. The event is being organised by Saundersfoot Chamber for Tourism. To find out more, see inside this weeks Observer supplement.
