HAVERFORDWEST 80 (12 pts) SAUNDERSFOOT 57 (2)
Saundersfoot travelled to Haverfordwest last Sunday for a Pembrokeshire League division one encounter and were defeated by 23 shots.
On rink three, Peter Lewis, Alan Brace, Mackie Brace and Paul Blayney took an early lead against the home four skipped by Dai Pollock and the scores were tied on 19 ends.
Five shots to their opponents over the last two ends, however, meant defeat for the villagers. Rink four saw Joe Dennis, Nev Ruff, Alan Brain and Steve Dick up against Roger Price and win only eight ends, going down by 12 shots.
On rink five, George Cavell, John Moffatt, Don Poole and Myrddin Dennis played against an inspired home four skipped by P.D.S. Jenkins and another 12-shot defeat was the result.
Rink six saw the only win for the Saundersfoot boys as Roy Kennion, Terry Lamkin, John Dugmore and skip Steve Poole continued their run of success with a six-shot victory over Richard O'Leary's four.
A disappointing defeat for the seasiders, only their second in 11 games this season, but thoughts now turn to their fixture away to St. Albans of Cardiff tomorrow (Saturday) in the last 32 round of the Carruthers Shield competition.
Both Saundersfoot and Tenby, who have a home fixture against Ammanford Park, fly the flag for Pembrokeshire bowls and are wished success.
Rink scores (Saundersfoot first, Haverfordwest skips only):
A. Brace, P. Lewis, M. Brace, P. Blayney 17; D. Pollock 22.
J. Dennis, N. Ruff, A. Brain, S. Dick 12; R. Price 24.
G. Cavell, J. Moffatt, D. Poole, M. Dennis 9; P.D.S. Jenkins 21.
R. Kennion, T. Lamkin, D. Dugmore, S. Poole 19; R. O'Leary 13.
Footnote: The Saundersfoot team would like to thank Peter Lewis, who normally plays in the St. Issell's squad, for answering a late call-up. He certainly did not let anyone down and had an excellent game.
WHITLAND LADIES 32.75 (1 pt) SAUNDERSFOOT LADIES 43 (5)
The Saundersfoot girls travelled to Whitland and returned home with the giant share of the spoils, gaining five of the six points at stake.
Lorna Bissell's rink drew with the Hannah Thomas four 20-all and Marion Evans skipped her rink to a six-shot win, but as the Whitland team, skipped by Cally Jones, only fielded three players, a loss of 25 per cent of their score meant an actual win of 11.25 shots.
ST. ISSELL'S
LADIES 58 (6 pts)
PEMBROKE DOCK
PARK LADIES 39 (0)
The ladies of St. Issell's gained a resounding victory over Pembroke Dock Park and scooped all the points in a 19-shot win.
Brenda Davies, Sue Roden, Kath Blayney and Beryl Lewis defeated the Margaret Lewis four by 30 shots to 19, while Pearl Thomas, Mary Cavell, Diane Rigden and Beryl Lawrence were victorious over Kay Cole's rink by 28 shots to 20.
PEMBROKE DOCK
LADIES 60 (6 pts)
ST. ISSELL'S LADIES 21 (0)
Having taken all the points from Pembroke Dock Park ladies, the girls travelled to play their counterparts last Monday, having defeated them too only a few weeks ago.
Alas, another victory was not to be as the St. Issell's girls suffered their worst defeat of the season.
Shirley Spiller, Brenda Davies, Kath Blayney and Gloria Dugmore went down by 16 shots, while Lyn Statters, Sue Roden, Diane Rigden and Audrey Williams lost by 23.
ST. ISSELL'S MEN
Two games last week for the gentleman of St. Issell's, both away to Mariners of Pembroke Dock.
In the Brains Cup, the dockers inflicted a heavy defeat, ending any hope of the villagers progressing in the tournament, while last Saturday in a division two game, a much better performance saw St. Issell's pick up four points in a narrow defeat.

On Thursday, St. Issell's ladies travel to play Priory, again with a 2 pm start.
