Saundersfoot Bowling Club members Ceris Hewlings and Myrddin Dennis were crowned ladies' and men's singles champions at the club's finals day at the weekend.
It was third time lucky for Welsh international, Ceris, runner-up for the previous two years. She beat her international squad-mate Viv Edwards 21-3, while Myrddin defeated Neville Ruff 21-17 to lift the trophy for the first time since his victory in 1990.
In the glorious September sunshine, Ceris and Myrddin also teamed up to win the mixed pairs, while Viv tasted success in the handicap, and Neville won both the two and four-wood pairs with partner Steve Dick.
Ceris also retained the two-wood singles trophy for her hat-trick year with a thrilling 21-20 win over Chris Haley, while Steve Dick successfully defended his two-wood title too.
Chris, meanwhile, won the ladies' pairs with Gwenda Rees, while teenager Gemma Amos and Stewart Howe won the ladies' and men's Rabbits, respectively.
Alan Brace, Paul Blayney and Myrddin Dennis won the triples, while Alan also won the Over 60s pairs with Don Stokes and John Jenkins retained the Over 60s singles.
Elsewhere, Paul Blayney and John Dugmore, winners of the Jubilee Pairs last year, found themselves in the final again this year - however, now they were on opposing sides. It was Paul Blayney and his partner Beryl Lawrence who were successful, winning by two sets to nil against John and Steve Dick. This is the fourth time in a row, Paul has won the shield - so if you want to win, hope you draw PB's name out of the hat!
But the winner with the biggest smile was 14-year-old Joe Dennis - he beat his dad, Myrddin, in the Handicap 21-19!
Competition secretary Paul Blayney wishes to thank all competitors, markers and spectators for making finals weekend a happy and enjoyable end to the 2008 season.
A presentation evening will be held in October, on a date to be finalised.
