With New Year more or less hours away, the subject of making New Year resolutions came up the other day, and I must admit I was surprised to hear that Amanda Lewis had decided to go 'green' and go back to the good life. The first thing she did was inherit a herd of cows - well not really, just that she woke up one morning to find about a dozen or so cows wandering about the garden, doing the things that cows do with amazing regularity all over the path and lawn. They do say it helps the grass grow! Suffice to say it took a couple of hours with a high pressure washer to clear up the mess. Somehow I think the idea of going green has diminished.

NEW YEAR'S DAY

Don't forget folks, after the brave hearts have gone for their paddle in the sea, why not head over to the clubhouse for some hot cawl and a roll, or if you need a 'hair of the dog', the bar will be open. I can promise the room will be warm, so you can sit and thaw out at your leisure.

WHIST EVENINGS

A reminder to all the Monday night whisters that the first whist night of the new year will take place on Monday, January 10, at the usual time. Hopefully, you will all have had a nice break and will be ready for another session at the tables.

BEST WISHES TO ALL

On behalf of everyone at the club, may I take the opportunity of wishing bowlers throughout the county, the happiest of new years, with good health and wealth besides. If you are out first footing tonight, don't forget your lump of coal and piece of shortbread. To all our friends, "a guid New Year and lang may yer lum reek" - no, don't worry, I am not being rude.

MANAGEMENT MEETING

The first meeting of 2005 will be held in the pavilion on Tuesday, January 11, at the usual time of 6 pm. It is hoped that there will be a full attendance.

ST. ISSELL'S TEAM MEETING

All past members of the St. Issell's team and, of course, any members who fancy having a game with the team, are given plenty of warning that the meeting to elect the team captain and two selectors will be held on Wednesday, January 19, in the pavilion, at 7 pm. Once again it is hoped that as many as possible will come along. Make a date in your diary lads.
