ST. BRIDES

TEAM MEETING

Would all St. Brides players, past, present and future, who are interested in playing for the team once again this coming outdoor season, please note that a team meeting will be held in the pavilion on Thursday, February 26, at 7 pm prompt.

The purpose of the meeting is to elect a team captain and selectors for the coming season.

If any member wishes to pay his membership for the new season whilst at the meeting, he will be more than welcome to do so. Just hand the money over to one of the management committee who will be in attendance; they in turn will pass it on to George.

Please make every effort to attend lads - remember this is your chance to decide on who will be picking your team next season. If you don't turn up, you will have no come back later.

ST. ISSELL'S

TEAM MEETING

The St. Issell's squad are being given a little more of a warning about their up-and-coming meeting. This will be held on Tuesday, March 16, at 7 pm, in the pavilion.

Like their counterparts in St. Brides, attendance is paramount if you want to have a say in who will be picking the team next season. A further reminder will be given nearer the date.

WELSH JUNIOR PAIRS

An early trip to Carmarthen last Saturday, when they would normally be having a lie in, faced Lee Cowper and Dana Rogers, when they took part in the Welsh under 16 pairs finals.

The very fast green, combined with inexperience, proved too much for them when they were beaten by an experienced partnership from Sully.

Give both great credit for not throwing in the towel, but try as they might, things just would not go their way when they were holding a count - a stray wood on three occasions pushed the opposition's wood into the head. Unfortunately, when they did lose an end, it was by a high count.

Despite all that, they came away with an experience that can only help them in future games. Providing that they take every game as a lesson learned, they will definitely go on to better things in the future.

JUNIOR INDOOR COACHING

Would all juniors please note that indoor coaching will recommence on Monday at Heatherton at the usual time of 4.30 - 6 pm. Hopefully, the two-week lay-off will have increased their desire to get back out on the green.

WHIST

EVENING

A miserable night on the outside, but the whisters did not let it put them off their weekly session of fun, gossip and chat. Oh yes, and the odd game of whist.

There were eight tables on the go, and heading the league table as top scorer on the night was Graham Brace.

The first lady was Vera Burrows, with Gladys Cleaton as her nearest rival. Heading the scores for the menfolk was Frank Buckley, with John Austin as second gent.

The first half top scorer was Audrey Williams, with the honours for the second half top scorer going to Glady Irvine.

The booby prize was claimed by Mabel Whittaker and the longest sitter was Nev Ruff.

The evening raffle prizes were claimed by Vera Burrows, Dave Roberts and Robert Irvine.
