After a great deal of pleading, the censors have eventually agreed to the showing of the 'shaven head' of Jamie Shields in a family newspaper.
For those not in the know, Jamie, currently a patient in Llandough Hospital in Cardiff, agreed to have his head shaved in aid of Comic Relief, along with one of the other patients in the ward. The 'awful' deed was carried out by the nurses on the Friday. The local Cardiff Echo newspaper covered the story and printed the photo.
The result it seems meant that a lot of naughty children went to bed peacefully that night, scared by the threat from their parents that if they did not behave the 'Beast' would come and get them.
A great big thank you from Jamie and his mate to all the 'smashing' bowling friends who very kindly sponsored his haircut to the tune of £66.30 last Saturday during the indoor tournaments. So far they have collected over £400. So even when he is stuck to his bed, Jamie still manages to stay bright and cheerful.
