Someone pass a large brandy and the smelling salts. Which I will drink and which I will smell, I won't know until I calm down. I will not be able to take too many games like last week's against St. Kath's in the Brewers Cup; it had everything that the playwrights look for - a last minute decision, drawn games, narrow misses, close measures, you name it and it was all there.
BREWERS CUP
ST. ISSELL'S 77 (10 pts)
ST. KATHS 76 (4)
When St. Issell's travelled to Milford the other week they came home comfortable winners from their game against St. Kaths. But this was something else, it had it all, two rinks drawing, one rink winning for each and a last minute wood deciding a one shot win.
Dave Robb's rink were in outstanding form, with the front two of Mike Gouldingay and Peter Bissell being superb. Haydn Jones and Dave Robb filled in the gaps, giving Brian Davies no chance to succeed.
John Dugmore's game was a see-saw affair, neither taking the initiative. The last wood from John saw him miss the jack by a hair's breadth. They took one for a draw, but a coat of paint and it could have been five.
Dave Roberts's rink was similar, two up, but lying two down in the head. Dave's running wood narrowly missed the jack, which would have given them a three count, and ended up a draw.
Macky Brace's rink are having a struggle these days. At the 16th end they were 15 shots adrift. Six shots in the next four ends saw them just needing the one shot to give the team a one shot victory. It was George Cavell's first wood that sat down just a couple of inches from the jack. His oppo's wood stopped four inches away. The tension could be seen, nearly. No-one could better the head and a very relieved captain Dave Robb led the cheers.

FISHGUARD 103 (12)
ST. BRIDES 59 (2)
Another long midweek trek to Fishguard, this time St. Brides being the travellers. Always a tricky fixture, even more so this season with the green being in top class condition. A win on one rink and two points is always a bonus and St. Brides were not complaining.
Rink scores (St. Brides first, Fishguard skips only):
T. Shaw, G. James, M. Dennis, T. Bullock 24; R. Pollard 19.
D. Williams, G. Davies, A. Brain, J. Tombs 6; K. Banett 37.

DIVISION TWO
ST. BRIDES 66 (2)
GOSCAR 105 (12)
I don't know what the St. Brides players are on, but it must be good. Two games in two days and a couple of friendlies in between and they are still going strong. The so-called 'senior' members of the team are running round like spring chickens. They started off on three rinks like wildfire, but the fires went out quickly, except for Gwynfor Davies's rink where he recorded his first rink win this season as a skip.
Rink scores (St. Brides first, Goscar skips only):
N. Griffiths, L. Allen. D. Williams, G. Davies 22; J. Best 21.
J. Bingham, B. Berry, J. John J. Tombs 16; L. Hilling 42.

T. James, G. James, J. Cleaver, T. Bullock 13; G. Hill 26.
NEYLAND 22

WHEATSHEAF 121
The oldest friendly in Saundersfoot's history is the game against the Wheatsheaf. The first game between these two teams took place in 1969. Now, I myself was only a whippersnapper back then (stop laughing), but every year the friendliness of bowling has shown through and last Sunday was no exception. A marvellous fun-filled day, with the visitors taking home the trophy, donated all those years ago by Saundersfoot's Tom Osborne. A really enjoyable day. Oh, and the bowling was not too bad either.
Rink scores (Saundersfoot first, Wheatsheaf skips only):
P. Thomas, A. Hughes, P. Sampson, M. Gouldingay 17; R. Taylor 18.

Mike Gouldingay has got the proverbial elastic twisted somewhere. He has issued the final ultimatum. Read and quiver all who read this and feel guilty.
