One-hundred bikes, three-wheelers and sidecars converged on Saundersfoot for the 53rd Welsh National Assembly - The Saundersfoot 75 at the weekend.

The weather was glorious, with brilliant sunshine, and competitors travelled 75 miles through Pembrokeshire's beautiful scenery to take in the villages of Manorbier, St. Florence, Lamphey, Carew, Lawrenny, Cresswell Quay and Narberth, for the morning run.

Lunch was at the Nantyffin Motel, Llandissilio, and then they travelled through Login, Whitland, Tavernspite, Llanteg, Amroth and Wisemans's Bridge back to Saundersfoot.

There were numerous spectators along the route and Saundersfoot Harbour had many visitors to see the wonderful machines on view, both Saturday and Sunday.

Local riders who won prizes were: Iwan Rees and John Jones, Crymych; Simon Hodges, Jeffreyston; Andrew Armstrong, Haverforwest; Dai Garland, Freystrop; Anthony Devall, Reynalton; David Evans, Clarbeston Road; Jim and Joyce Codd, Begelly; John Webb, Saundersfoot; Huw Adams and Liam Allen and Hayley Adams, Tavernspite.

An excellent route was provided by clerk of the course, Les Thomas and Shirley Simpson, from Jeffreyston.

There were eight riders under the age of 30 at the event and the oldest machine present was a 1904 Phoenix trike owned by Chris Thomas from Nantgaredig.

Thanks go to Gill Garland from Garlands Motorcycles for providing breakdown cover and to the numerous marshals along the route.

During the evening social dinner at the Merlewood Hotel, there was an auctioned of signed photographs and posters from Sir Anthony Hopkins's Fastest Indian, Michael Schumacher, Suzi Perry and Sir John Surtees. As a result a total of £450 was raised for the Wales Air Ambulance.
