The Saturday Swingers held their Finals Day at the Tenby Golf Club last Saturday. There was an excellent turnout, with 41 Swingers taking part in the 18-hole stableford competition.

Golf was of the highest standard, Brian Diment hoping to win the shield for the third successive year. He was leading the field for a long time, until Huw Roberts came in with an excellent score of 38 points, Huw winning the Saturday Swingers Finals Day Shield.

In second place was Brian Diment with 37 points, while Neil Lovatt was third with 35.

Leading scores were as follows: Huw Roberts 38 pts; Brian Diment 37; Neil Lovatt 35; Doc Hurle, Steve Amos, Dave Merritt 33; Geoff Aston 32; Dean Rossiter, Eamonn Maher 31.

Longest drive: Hole 2 - Geoff Aston; 3 - Micky Barrett; 15 - Richard Ormond; 16 - Gary Willars.

Nearest the pin: Hole 6 - Gary McNeilly; 8 - Neil Lovatt; 9 - John Gillespie; 12 - Graham Shand; 17 - Bill Davies.

Twos: Paul Hoyland, Pat Rees, Simon Toy, Graham Shand, Viv John, Gary McNeilly.

Throughout the year the Swingers play for the Ralph and Phil John Shield, the winner being the one with the best 12 stableford scores. The winner this year was Brian Diment with 419 points. Last year's winner, Ralph John, was second with 409.

Leading scores were as follows: Brian Diment 419 pts; Ralph John 409; Peter Rossi 408; Jeff Haley 406; Bill Davies 405; Neil Lovatt 405; Gary McNeilly 401.

The prizes were presented at the dinner in the clubhouse by the Swingers' chairman, Dai Thomas. It had been another successful year and everyone thanked Eamonn Maher once again for all the hard work he had put in.Thank you Eamonn.

A special presentation was made to Ria and Roger by Dai who thanked them for the wonderful hospitality over the years. Everyone would be sad to see them go.

One special date, the annual meeting of the Swingers will be held at the clubhouse on Tuesday, July 16, at 7.30 pm. Subs are now due.
