Mums and Dads in the Narberth area may be pleased to know that, in the pre-Christmas season, the Narberth and Whitland Rotary Club are hoping to organise a colourful fun run for adults and children dressed in the traditional red costumes with white beards.

The run will be a 3K jog around the Town Moor and several streets in the town centre, subject to the necessary permits for short temporary closures, for an hour or so, of a couple of roads.

Such charitable fun runs take place in various parts of the world and Narberth is to be no exception. Of course, the children will know that the real Santa only delivers presents to homes at the dead of night on Christmas Eve when all the kiddies are supposed to be sleeping. However, by special arrangement with the Narberth and Whitland Round Table, the president of the local Rotary Club explained that a Santa Sleigh with one of Santa’s representatives will be parked at the finish line of the Fun Run to dish out sweets for those children taking part in the event.

It is anticipated that the fun will start with registration from 11 am at the Town Car Park in a security zone immediately behind the Queen’s Hall on Sunday, December 8. The run, or a gentle walk for some, is definitely not a race. It will start at 12 noon and all ages and abilities are invited to join in. The course will also be wheelchair-friendly.

Rotary president Elaine Bradbury said: “More details will be published in the near future for this exciting charitable event.”
