A 'safety and not danger at sea' fund-raising appeal by the Sands nightclub in Saundersfoot has resulted in the magnificent sum of £2,500 being raised for the emergency rescue services who man our coastline.
At a special presentation earlier this week, Martyn Perkins and Kathy Waters from the club were delighted to hand over cheques for £2,000 to Tenby RNLI and £500 to Tenby Coastguard.
The money was raised through various fund-raising events and special thanks go to all who supported the 'bandathon' and disco at the club in September 2002 and to all who gave donations for the night, which in total raised £1,100.
Special thanks also go to the band members of Rock-in Rodders and 92AD; Mr. and Mrs. John (the milk) Butland; staff at the Sands for donating their services for free; Tony and Ann Jones for the use of the premises; The Deck public house in Saundersfoot and the Sands staff for donating sponsorship from the village's New Year's Day Swim; and all the visitors and locals who kindly gave donations during the peak summer season for the use of parking at the rear of the Sands.
The club hopes to continue fund-raising next season and anyone with any fund-raising ideas is asked to contact either Martyn or Kathy at the club.
