Following three incidents whereby vehicles got stuck in the sand at North Pembrokeshire beauty spots last week, coastguards has issued a warning. "Some beaches are accessible by motor vehicle and some in the north of our area allow parking on the sands," said a spokeswoman for HM Coastguard. "If you do go onto the beaches in your vehicle, always take heed of local notices regarding where parking is permissible. Don't drive over dunes; the sand is soft and shifting. Look at the local tide tables for high water times. Vehicles can sink swiftly on sand and grains can play havoc with your engine and exhaust." The coastguards will always assist persons who are in a vehicle and in danger of being engulfed by the sea. But they are not responsible for removing a vehicle out of danger if its occupants are safe.
