Employees of Shaw Group UK Ltd, currently involved with South Hook LNG, have presented Wales Air Ambulance with £500. The money was raised by the laydown and stores personnel for winning the Shaw Safety Awareness Incentive Scheme for two consecutive months. The criteria used included all aspects of safe working practices and compliance with personal protective equipment. Major engineering company Shaw Group Uk Ltd has a 300 strong workforce which has working for the last 14 months on the mechanical installation of pipework systems and mechanical equipment at South Hook LNG. Senior HSE advisor for Shaw Group, Jerry Pyke, said: "The winning team decided to donate the £500 they were awarded to the Wales Air Ambulance to support the fine work that they do." Air ambulance volunteers Chris and Angela Roberts were impressed with the enthusiasm of those they met and Hilary Harvey, county fund-raiser, in accepting the cheque on site said: "Our thanks to the lay down and stores team for choosing our life saving service for this gift. This is a generous donation and will pay for over 33 minutes flying time for the helicopter and crew travelling from Swansea at over 140 miles per hour to wherever there is a trauma patient in need of prompt treatment. This is a gift from one group of professionals to another."
