Claire Dawes and Chantelle Edwards, staff members at Withybush General Hospital, will be running the Cardiff Half Marathon this Sunday, October 1, and are raising money in order to re-establish a relatives room within Withybush Hospital.

Claire has chosen to support this project because, as a clinical site manager and whilst working in ITU, “we often encounter situations when relatives need a comfortable area to rest, to have privacy or to sleep when relatives and loved ones are critically ill or are at the end of life pathway.”

Claire, who has been working for the health board for 16 years is eager to raise funds which will benefit relatives, loved ones and carers at a stressful time. She has ran the Cardiff Half Marathon before, and having started training she is looking forward to this year’s event.

“I ran the Cardiff Half Marathon nine years ago, and this year I decided to run it again whilst fundraising for a relatives room at Withybush. I’m excited and nervous for the race, and I hope we raise a big sum of money to support the project,” added Chantelle.
