Running enthusiasts are lacing up their trainers to start training for one of Pembrokeshire's most popular road races. The Tenby 10K, generously sponsored for the second in a three-year deal by Coastal Cottages of Pembrokeshire, takes place on Sunday, July 27. Organised by the TROTs Running Club, St. Clears, with support on the day from Tenby Leisure Centre, the event begins at 10 am with a junior fun run - open to children aged eight to 14 - at The Clicketts at 10 am. The 10K - which last year attracted a record number of entrants - will start at 11 am from Tenby Leisure Centre. The race is all on the road and loops around the edge of Tenby, passing through Penally, before finishing at the leisure centre. Categories are open female and open male, veteran female F35 (35-44) and F45 (45+), veteran male M40 (40-49) and M50 (50+), male club team and female club team, plus first business team. T-shirts and medals will be presented to all finishers, as well as prizes for various age group categories and teams. And this year, for the winners of the open female and open male, sponsors Coastal Cottages of Pembrokeshire are generously donating a short break in Pembrokeshire to both of them so they will be able to put their feet up and relax! One of the participants will be Coastal Cottages' own CEO Matthew Evans, who next week will hopefully become the first Welsh person to complete the world record distance of 10 marathons in 10 days for the children's charity Brathay. Said Ann Rowell, of TROTs Running Club: "We are thrilled that Coastal Cottages of Pembrokeshire are generously sponsoring the Tenby 10K. We had the best ever turnout of runners last year and hope that this year will be equally as good, if not better. "This is a quality event that does attract new people to the area and we are delighted to be able to support it in the form of sponsorship, prizes and T- shirts!" Said Matthew: "The team at TROTS do a great job every year and are a very professional outfit to work with. The 10K really delivers a great atmosphere with a great deal of non club runners and first timers now participating.  "It also sparks a few local challenges, with Pat Currie using this as a platform to re-launch his running career before his Dublin marathon attempt in October. "We will also see Nicky Rees attempt to break the 30-minute barrier and Niffy Brace will attempt to beat his wife for the first time, so lots of local interest once again! Jacob Evans, one of the youngest at Coastal Cottages, said: "This was an easy one.  They have a great race for children down the Clicketts at 10 am and the medals are really cool!"
