Lacing up her running shoes for this year's Flora London Marathon is 41-year-old Sue Lloyd. Although Sue, of Pembroke, has been running for 15 years, the London event on April 23 will be her first marathon. She has received a considerable amount of support, tips and advice from the coach and fellow running members of the Pembrokeshire Harriers Club of which she has been a member for the last two years. Sue's husband Simon has recovered successfully from cancer and Sue wants to say a big thank you for the care and attention he received whilst in hospital. She is aware of the need for a large state-of-the- art cancer care unit in Withybush Hospital, Haverfordwest, as a close family friend has recently undergone a bone marrow transplant to treat his leukaemia, and follow up sessions at home are not only vital, but psychologically beneficial to patients who have been away to Cardiff and London for this aggressive treatment. Sue chose Adam's Bucketful of Hope Appeal after competing in the Dale half-marathons in 2004 and 2005 organised by the Triathlon Club Adam Evans- Thomas used to belong to before he died. She and her daughter Claire have also run in the Race for Life 2004 and 2005. Sue commented: "My family, son David and Claire and my wonderful husband Simon are all backing me 100 per cent to raise as much as we can for this necessary Unit. "If you would like to sponsor me please ring me at home on 01646 682388 or on my mobile on 07814 165698 and I will do my very best on the day!"
