SISTERS Eve and Alys Kidney from Jameston were thrilled to receive replies from the Queen in response to their letters telling her all about the Chernobyl Children's Lifeline Charity they are supporting.

The girls and their parents were a host family for two Ukranian girls who visited the county last September, as part of a group visit organised by the South Pembrokeshire Link of the charity.

Both Eve and Alys are helping with fundraising activities to bring more Ukranian children to Pembrokeshire this year and they decided to write to the Queen to tell her about it.

"We each had replies from different ladies in waiting," said Eve, "but they both said that the Queen was really interested to hear about our Ukranian guests and she was sure they would have enjoyed their stay."

"We wished William and Kate good luck for their wedding too," said Alys.

Staying on the royal track, the charity's next fundraising event will be a family quiz with a royal wedding theme at 8 pm on April 29 at the Begelly Arms.

Teams can be from two to six players and tickets are £2.50 per person.
