The second oldest branch in the armed services has donated almost £100,000 to charities, schools and good causes in Wales.
The Royal Engineers Association gave away a total of £99,500 in donations on Friday. The eight remaining members of the REA decided to give their money to organisations that would have greater benefit from it.
The Royal Engineers presented large donations to: Wales Air Ambulance, Withybush Ward 10, South Pembrokeshire Hospital, Ty Hafan Children's Hospice, Paul Sattori Trust, Carew Control Tower, Pembrokeshire Dock Bowling Club, Cruse Bereavement Fund and set up a scholarship to last for 10 years at Pembroke School.
Tony Key, Wales Air Ambulance's community co-ordinator for Pembrokeshire, said: "We're absolutely delighted with this brilliant donation from the Royal Engineers. Wales Air Ambulance is a charity operation and receives no funding from the Government or the national lottery; we rely on generous donations such as this to maintain operation.
"This is a huge amount of money to receive and it will go a long way in saving lives across Wales. On behalf of myself and the charity, I would like to express our sincere gratitude to the Royal Engineers Association for this donation," Tony added.
