The Pembroke Dock branch of the Royal Engineers Association held its monthly meeting at the Star Social Club on Monday, October 27. The chairman opened the meeting and asked the branch to observe a silent tribute to Mrs. Mary Bowers who had recently passed away.

Following this, the branch, amongst various items, discussed the annual dinner and menus and a head count was taken for the forthcoming social evening at Chard House.

On Saturday, November 1, the branch members and their ladies were taken to Chard House, Swansea, by a Silcox coach. Here they were wined and dined by the Swansea branch. The entertainment during the evening was presented by Mike Adams; his singing and music kept the toes tapping and eventually members were on the floor dancing and swaying to music, which fitted the generation present. A splendid buffet was provided by the Swansea ladies.

Unfortunately, all good things have to end and Pembroke Dock had to board the Silcox coach for the homeward journey. Through rain and heavy gusty winds, the driver managed to miss the fallen trees and once in Pembrokeshire was used to the cross-winds which had arisen during the evening.

Well done Silcox on a comfortable and safe journey. The next branch meeting will be on Monday, November 24.
