A 15-year-old talented cartoon artist from St. Florence has received the Royal seal of approval from Her Majesty the Queen.

Samuel Griffiths, along with his dad Mark, attended Royal Ascot and the Guards Polo Club as part of a visit to Wimbledon recently.

The Greenhill School pupil was fortunate enough to get very close to the Queen at the polo club and as such was inspired to draw a picture of the occasion, deciding to send it to her at Buckingham Palace.

To his surprise, last week Sam received a letter of response from Balmoral Castle, sent on behalf of Her Majesty by her Lady in Waiting, thanking him for his 'splendid' picture.

"The Queen was very interested in the amusing account of your recent experience of visiting The Savill Garden and the Guards Polo Club with your family and Her Majesty was so pleased to hear how much you all enjoyed this occasion," said the letter, adding that the Queen "greatly appreciated" Samuel's kind thought in drawing such a special picture of the scene for her.
