Over 30 children from the Narberth and Whitland area, together with their carers, Rotarians and friends descended upon Folly Farm recently for a memorable day out. The adventure was part of the nationwide 'Kids Out' event organised for children all over the United Kingdom. Whilst the Rotary Club of Narberth and Whitland arranged the day for Narberth, Tavernspite, Templeton and Whitland, Rotarians all over Pembrokeshire and the UK were accompanying children and their carers on similar events. Over 1,000 children from district 1150, which covers South and West Wales, including the whole of Pembrokeshire, together with carers and Rotarians, enjoy a fabulous day out at various locations on the second Wednesday of June each year. "This is a special day for Rotarians as well as the children," said Rob Elward, president of the Rotary Club of Narberth and Whitland. "It is a pleasure to witness the joy expressed by all those who come. The smiles on the faces are sufficient recompense for those of us who help during the day." President Rob thanked the Plas Hyfryd Hotel, Narberth, who generously gave a packed lunch to each child. The children also received a special T- shirt and some pocket money from the Rotary Club. "We are especially grateful to everyone at Folly Farm for their generosity and for the wonderful welcome they gave us," said president Rob. "They went of their way to make this a special day. It will be long remembered by all those who came along and thoroughly enjoyed the occasion."
