A recent speaker at a meeting of the Rotary Club of Narberth and Whitland was Doug Rowland. Doug spent many years as an officer in the Merchant Navy. He sailed round the world in refrigerated ships and traversed the Panama Canal on numerous occasions.

Doug gave an interesting talk about the Panama Canal and how it was built and how it works. He illustrated the talk with slides. Doug has now retired and has a small sheep farm near Whitland. He was thanked by vice-president Robert Elward.
