Saundersfoot Rotary Club under the organisation of secretary Brian Waters, was pleased to invite children from St Oswalds, Stepaside and Sageston schools to a free day visit to Folly Farm this month as part of the ‘KidsOut scheme, sponsored by the generosity of the local attraction.

The day was an outstanding success with other children arriving in bus loads from various parts of Wales to enjoy the fantastic facilities offered by this popular Pembrokeshire venue.

The Rotary Club issued to every local child a ticket to the value of £5 which they could spend at the Leisure Centre on various rides, an ice cream or in the shops, so that every individual child could choose how they wished to spend their money.

Each child was provided with a baseball style hat, for protection from the sun and help to easily identify them.

“We wish to thank each school for providing adult carers who looked after the children during their exciting day,” said Rotarian Brian.

“It was full of valuable educational opportunities, seeing wild animals within a safe environment being fed and cared for by the qualified animal keepers who were happy to answer in detail any questions which were posed by the children.

“We also thank Wiseman’s Bridge Inn, our Club’s headquarters, for providing an excellent free picnic lunch for all the children which they thoroughly enjoyed under the guidance of their carers.

“The excitement and the look on the children’s faces as they arrived was wonderful to see and the weather was also kind and helped to make the day memorable.

“I feel sure that each student/pupil had many stories to relate to their family before going to bed.

“We look forward to doing the same next year for the next group of children,” he added.
